Morvahna vs Captain Damiano

On Sunday I got to play in the 2nd of my league games!  This time I was paired up with our Mercs player and faced with 2 lists, one with Magnus and the other with Damiano.  Both lists seemed like they had a pretty solid amount of infantry, and I wasn't feeling good about Baldur's chances.  Turned out he didn't like having the Renegades shut off by Baldur upkeeping a spell every turn, so he opted for Damiano against my Morvahna list

Captain Damiano
- Rocinante
- Vanguard
Stannis Brocker
Steelhead Halberdiers (max)
Steelhead Halberdiers (max)
Steelhead Riflemen (max)
Steelhead Riflemen (max)
Steelhead Heavy Cavalry (min)

For those of you keeping track at home, that's 45 steelheads, Morvahna is going to have her work cut out for her.  Bloodtracker's put Prey on the unit of Riflemen to my right.  I opted to go 2nd.  Turn 1 is like always, move up, put upkeeps up, pass.  I do much the same.

Turn 2 it starts to get interesting.  My Wolves of Orboros are sitting in a forest, Skinwalkers in front of Morvahna, my heavies bringing it in behind.  Bloodtrackers are taking some shots at some Riflemen.  Things are getting shot, the Wolves are engaged more or less on the other side of the table.  After I get back some Fury with Harvest, I go ahead and have Morvahna throw Restoration on the Skinwalkers and then feat.  I used this to get some evil trees out there, though not as much as I'd like, but it did take out some more infantry.

Turns after this he goes ahead and pops his feat, which didn't seem to really slow me down much at all. Probably kept me from killing Rocinante is about all with my Wold Guardian.  I cycled Restoration over to Ghetorix, and moved him up to take out Stannis.  I also took out more infantry this turn, most of it slowly disappearing.

Next he tries to kill of my Guardian with Rocinante, and doesn't get it done.  Also, I need to remember to mention to him that only Bonded warjacks can get 4 focus, not just character warjacks ... but I don't think it made a big difference here.  On my next turn after I wiped out Rocinante with my Guardian he conceded.

This was a fun game for me, but probably not for my opponent.  He misread my feat, which was a big deal of course.  I don't think he'd have been able to spread out that many guys much farther, but its still something he could have factored in.  His dice were also pretty bad.  At one point he rolled a 4 on 3 dice to try to kill off the last Gallows Grove for instance.

Morvahna was definitely the right choice for this matchup.  Baldur would have very likely had a lot of trouble unless I was able to get the quick assassination out there, but most people know that's coming.
